Eurochile Company Mission gets ready to participate in Ecomondo & Key Energy International Fair in Italy

This Sunday, November 6, the company mission that will participate at the Ecomondo & Key Energy Fair, one of the most important events for Circular Economy, which is expected to have a record participation between November 8 and 11, leaves for Italy.

With the aim of informing the attending companies, the Eurochile Business Foundation gathered them in a webinar to clear up doubts about logistics and inform them of the whole week programme. Nina Morales, Director of Business Cooperation and Institutional Affairs of Eurochile, and the representative of MultiRep Services and Ecomondo in Latin America, Andrea Batazzi, were present at the event, who gave them details of the itinerary and the opportunities that the fair will offer to the eight companies. Chilean: Epyral, Consorcio Santa Marta, Volta SpA, Bellbast Chile Ltda, Rubtec SpA, Forestal Pinares, Instituto de Transferencia Tecnológica y Emprendimiento and Ecología en tu Barrio.

At the beginning of his presentation, Batazzi highlighted that this year the call of the fair has been a success, and the number of events and institutions present is impressive, “therefore, in addition to the commercial and technological contacts that you will be able to make, networking will be important to meet many people from the sector worldwide, and not only from Latin America”.

The Chilean company mission will be one of the four delegations with the greatest regional presence, which will stay at the Ca’Bianca hotel, located in the city of Riccione, he added. Along with this, he specified that the transfers and logistical support between the airport, hotel and exhibition center are carried out by the organizing entity in Italy. In addition, a transfer is planned to visit companies on the morning of November 10 and then return to the fair in the afternoon.

Regarding the day of arrival, on November 7, the Director of Business Cooperation and Institutional Affairs of Eurochile highlighted that at 8:30 p.m. there will be a coordination meeting at the hotel with the companies in order to organize and revise the programme for the whole week.

On the first day of the fair, November 8, the Chilean companies will participate in the welcoming ceremony at the International Buyer’s Lounge and a lunch at the Self Service restaurant.

Nina Morales continued with the itinerary of November 9, which she indicated will be a day of conferences and seminars of interest to companies (more information at www.ecomondo.it), of which she highlighted ´Waste as Resources: Innovative technologies for recycling and recovery´; ´Special waste and urban waste between industrial development, programming, and market´ and, ´Participatory circular economy initiatives in Europe and Italy´.

On the morning of the 10th, two company visits are planned, one to the Coriano heat recovery plant and the other to the Ca’Baldacci Anaerobic Digestion Plant. According to Andrea Batazzi, the fair collaborates with important companies in the region.

“These two plants are managed by the ERA Group, one of the largest public-private companies in Italy that manages waste collection and recycling in Germany and Romania. These experiences were chosen since they are considered ‘best practice’ cases”, he stated.

In the afternoon they will be able to attend a workshop on ecodesign and open innovation in packaging, as well as the innovative start-up area. Meanwhile, on the last day each company will have the possibility to organize their own agenda.

Andrea Batazzi highlighted that Ecomondo is a 100,000 m2 fair that is highly sectorized, which makes it easy to find its way around, with well-defined areas on topics such as energy efficiency, waste and resources, and decontamination, hydrogeological risk, sustainable city, and renewable energy.

For this reason, he recommended Chilean companies visit all the fair’s pavilions to identify opportunities, but he also suggested that they previously browse the exhibition list to find potential counterparts.

This year, post-pandemic, the expectation for Ecomondo & Key Energy 2022 is very great, both for the exhibiting companies, Italian and international key players and delegations from more than 50 countries that will visit the fair.

Eurochile invites companies to connect with the different opportunities offered in the brokerage events 2022

An agenda full of activities is being co-organized for November and early December 2022 by the Eurochile Business Foundation, within the framework of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), with European member organizations of the EEN, as partner and sole point of contact for this network in Chile.

Given the current scenario and health restrictions that the pandemic imposed in previous years, the format in most of the brokerage events will be hybrid, to continue promoting the high number of attendance.

The Director of Networks at Eurochile, Manuela Caruz, highlights that brokerage events have become consolidated as activities that attract participants from all over the world in search of potential business partners, knowledge exchange, technology transfer and the possibility of internationalization of Chilean SMEs.

Therefore, Eurochile invites all national companies to join these initiatives, which provide opportunities to access the European market. “Until now we have five hybrid events, considering the new open calls for 2022, covering various items,” says Caruz.

Thus, between November 8 and 9, the ´Projects4GreenEnergy: Connected´ will be held, organized by the Saxon Energy Agency (SAENA) for participation in online mode. Companies, research institutions, universities and clusters that operate in the areas of energy and green technology that are looking for financing opportunities, partners for projects, innovative solutions and generating new business contacts are invited.

To do this, the agenda will offer streaming sessions with the presentation of experts in these matters and one-on-one meetings with attendees from many European countries. Registration is open at https://projects4greenenergy.b2match.io/

Another of the events that Eurochile is disseminating is ´The Greener Manufacturing Show 2022´, which will take place in Cologne, Germany between November 9 and 10. As one of the most important trade fairs in the area of sustainable production, it is aimed at those who are looking for new partners or cutting-edge technologies on topics related to circular economy, emission reduction, sustainable materials, storage energy and water recycling technology.

The fair will feature more than 150 exhibitors, 130 leading sustainability speakers from a wide range of industrial sectors seeking to explore in depth the latest innovations in the industry, market trends, regulatory updates, optimization of the manufacturing processes, the presentation of the latest research and development in ecological materials and chemical products.

There will be more than 3,000 attendees and access to 4 streaming conferences on ´Consumer goods and retail packaging´; ´Fashion and textiles´; ´Increasing sustainability in manufacturing´ and ´Sustainable materials for manufacturing and construction´. Eurochile carries out a workshop to disseminate the features of matchmaking events within the framework of the Enterprise Europe Network

With the aim of presenting different opportunities for international collaboration offered by the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), the largest support network for SMEs with international initiatives, the Eurochile Business Foundation carried out this Wednesday, October 19, the webinar ´Opportunities for collaboration with Europe in the framework of matchmaking events´.

It was a workshop that showed in detail the usefulness of this tool, its applications, and benefits done by its partner and colleague of this network: the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Cantabria (CEOE-CEPYME of Spain).
In the beginning of the activity, Nina Morales, Director of Business Cooperation and Institutional Affairs of Eurochile, reviewed the role of the foundation in the internationalization process of SMEs within the framework of the EEN, to which it has belonged since 2008, being the only member in Chile of this network, which has the endorsement of the European Commission.

“Eurochile, as a business bridge between Chile and Europe through the Enterprise Europe Network, plays a very important role in activities and relevant information for Chilean SMEs. In these last two years, Eurochile has disseminated 43 matchmaking events that have contemplated the participation of more than 500 Chilean companies”, she detailed.

In this scenario, during the year 2022, she emphasized, “we want to continue with this work of identifying opportunities for all Chilean companies, which means that we are already co-organizers of 14 B2Bs within different sectors.”

Before concluding, she invited the companies to be part of the Eurochile Business Foundation that will support the connection with the European continent.

In the presence of 40 companies, mainly SMEs, Manuela Caruz, Director of International Networks at Eurochile, referred to the scope of the EEN that started in Europe and today is the largest support network for SMEs with international innovative potential, and with hubs all over the world.

“It is a giant network, which has more than 600 organizations with more than 4,000 experts in 60 countries. The Confederation of Employers of Cantabria is one of the hubs of the network. The hubs are our counterpart, they help us organize events, transfer information on new technologies, regulations. We do all the information that we require for SMEs through the contact with the hubs that help us in Europe”, she maintained.

She mentioned that the hubs are of a different nature, ranging from universities to companies and consortiums, located by regions and countries in Europe.

Giant Opportunity Service

Adela Sánchez, project manager of CEOE-CEPYME, continued, who before carrying out a practical navigation of the website, said that SMEs are the backbone of most economies, which is why they are the target audience of the network together with other entities, including universities and organizations that make use of the virtual platform.

Going into more detail on the network, she pointed out that there is a wide range of services for growth-oriented SMEs, grouped into three categories: international collaboration, advisory services and innovation support. Doing a double click, for the 2022-2025 period, sustainability, digitlization and scale-up services will be very important.

It was here that the expert stopped to explain that if an SME is interested in B2Bs and trade missions, the first thing is to create a profile to find the perfect partner. With the help of Eurochile, the idea is to write the main characteristics of the company, its product or service, leaving this profile on the network along with another 5,500 that are part of the base, which is visible and accessible to everyone, she said.

There are five cooperation profiles, and the contact information of the company will not appear because it seeks to provide certainty of the reliability of people abroad, she repaired.

Another of the interesting services, continued the advisor, are the ´brokerage events´ which are bilateral meetings, with high added value since they allow to complement unplanned visits to the different stands of a fair.

“From a technological device you can enter the page and register and from there you have access to thousands of potential partners in European projects. In addition, you can schedule interviews and go to the fair in person or virtually,” she described.

To choose the right event, since there are thousands of them, Sánchez said, it is essential to focus on what the company needs, the objective of attending, the country that will hold it, the language that will be used, analyze who the public is, what are the benefits, if it will be online, etc.

Sánchez also recommended arriving very informed at the meetings, knowing the name and what the people or companies interested in your profile are doing, taking notes, being concise with the messages since the appointments are only a few minutes, making it clear what future communication will be like and disseminate the activities on social networks and other information channels.

To attend a ‘brokerage event’ there is a prior registration on a platform by entering the email or through Google or LinkedIn, said the project manager of CEOE-CEPYME Cantabria. It is necessary to indicate the type of participation sought and then complete the company profile. In this part it is very important to fill in the fields with the areas of activity in which each organization would be interested, as well as to specify that the support office is Eurochile.

Other relevant data for the success of the cooperation experience is the Marketplace with the product, service, investment, or request to make your profile more attractive and that it can be activated and generate more meetings. The platform also allows planning participation in sessions, webinars and workshops.

Eurochile Business Foundation starts a sequence of workshops to train SMEs in circular economy focused on construction and agro-food

The kick-off to a series of workshops on circular economy to be held throughout the country was given this Thursday, October 13, by the Eurochile Business Foundation, with the purpose of promoting this model in small and medium-sized companies related to the construction and agrifood sectors.

The first event took place at Eurochile and was called “The rise of circular products for construction, an opportunity for Chilean SMEs?” It was attended by different companies, which discussed issues such as the EPR Law for the construction sector, a necessary tool for the moulding of a market for circular products? Are circular products only aimed at customers with high purchasing power? and The cultural barriers of building with waste.

At the beginning of the event, the director of Sustainability and Circular Economy of Eurochile, Enrique Sánchez, highlighted the interest of the foundation of supporting the field of construction.

Next, the Project Manager of the Eurochile Sustainability and Circular Economy Area, Maud Breyne, reviewed some key concepts of the circular economy in the construction sector and the challenges that arise around this activity, among them, the footprint environment generated by each of the production stages that this sector demands worldwide annually, and the intensive building in cities that will double in the next four decades.

Also, the project manager mentioned the advantages of the products and services that result from circular businesses when the actors of the value chain relate to each other and apply circular economy. “Circular products and services have the particularity of being more durable and more innovative. They can provide monetary savings and, above all, a better quality of life for the user”, she emphasized.

In this scenario, the transition from a linear production system to a circular one is a process that SMEs can lead very well in Chile and in the world, since their structure is more flexible than large companies, being able to adapt faster with an offer of new solutions.

A unique heat insulator

With the aim of verifying the opportunity that circular products represent for construction, José Antonio Infante, Sales and Development Manager of Protermo, was invited to present the materials that his company develops today for the construction industry and architectural design, which are ecological and have energy saving qualities.

Cellulose insulation is one of its star products, 90% made from recycled cellulose fiber, and it is installed both in roofs and walls, providing thermal and acoustic insulation, and works as flame resistant.

Infante explained that “boric acid is added to this material, which makes it fire retardant and pest resistant. You can put a mouse, a pigeon in the attic, but it will not nest there because smaller animals do not tolerate the chemical”

Protermo’s professional went even further and carried out an experiment that revealed the capabilities of the product. With a blowtorch applying heat to 780 degrees Celsius he melted an old coin onto the surface of the cellulose insulation, which he held in one of his hands. In that sense, he assured that this material is unique in the market.

The material did not combust after a couple of seconds, however, the same did not happen when doing the test on a layer of glass wool, which, according to Infante, is affected by thermal degradation, losing its attribute as an insulator, and making that house or apartment that uses it less and less efficient.

“The degradation rate of the insulators, which will also be influenced in smaller percentages by the orientation, the material, the location, and the thermal stress to which it is subjected, is around 9% per year. It means that in five years it will have lost about 50% of its thermal insulation capacity”, he specified and, therefore, added “it will cost me 50% more to heat or cool that house”.

On the contrary, he compared that “cellulose fiber has the great peculiarity that it does not degrade, it is a material of plant origin that does not have resins.” In conclusion, Infante pointed out that “the grace of cellulose insulation is that it is in the framework of the circular economy. As it does not degrade, we take the paper and do not chop it, we tear it, something that brings out the cellulose fiber, we add the chemical and this will be encapsulated in walls or ceilings, as long as that building is in force”.

At the end, the specialist stressed that it is cheaper to produce and very quick to install, which is why he was open to creating alliances with municipalities in order to improve the thermal capacity of homes.

The next workshops are contemplated to be held in other regions of the country, which will be informed in due course.

Eurochile Business Foundation is awarded a project to reactivate tourism in Coquimbo

Contributing to the reactivation and recovery of tourism in the Coquimbo Region through the generation of new sustainable and circular products and promoting the knowledge and practice of the circular economy among MSMEs is the objective of the project “Reactivation of regional tourism with circular economy” that the Eurochile Business Foundation was awarded from the Innovation and Competitiveness Fund (FIC).

The initiative, which will be financed by the Regional Government with an investment of $118 million, will benefit 200 MSMEs linked to tourism in the 3 provinces of the region and 500 indirectly, that is, at least half of the registry of tourism providers of regional Sernatur. It is expected to enhance the practices that companies already have incorporated in their businesses such as: the S seal, Clean Production Agreements or those that are part of Sernatur’s “Commitment to Good Sustainable Tourism Practices”.

To reactivate regional tourism, associativity and collaborative work will be promoted and strengthened, focusing on local suppliers, and with this reducing their carbon footprint and even their water footprint.

In this sense, Eurochile’s proposal lies in the three types of innovation that it will be applied during the 18 months of execution. In the first stage, it will generate product innovation in sustainable and circular tourism services. Then, through the networks that the foundation has, it will innovate processes and, finally, it will carry out work with the municipalities.

For the executive director of Eurochile, José Aravena, the award of this project is a wonderful news that fully supports the work that the foundation has been carrying out recently at a national and regional level, strongly in Sustainability and Circular Economy.

In fact, the possibility of successfully carrying out different projects linked to tourism has allowed the foundation to achieve well-valued results, and to have a clear vision of the needs of the region.

“In this context, it is important to emphasize that this project responds to the specific needs of the territory raised by Eurochile, such as the reactivation and incorporation of the circular economy in tourism companies, in which, through European transfer, it seeks to contribute to the competitive development of MSMEs”, highlights the executive director.

Regarding the work methodology, José Aravena explains that the companies will be trained in concepts of tourism reactivation, green marketing, circular economy, circular business models, sustainability, and adaptation to climate change with the support of European and national experts, through different workshops.

A survey of companies and their circular practices will be carried out, and simultaneously the standards for the development of circular tourism products will be developed, which will be implemented at the prototype level, and later, they will be tested in the market.

“Companies will receive European transfer in the creation and marketing of circular tourism products under a circular business model. These products will be positioned once the communication and marketing plan is executed”, he adds.

The idea is that the beneficiary companies incorporate the circular economy as a business model, sustainable over time, which allows them to obtain positive actions in their businesses, something that Europe has been working on thanks to its own circular economy roadmap and Green Deal guidelines.

Eurochile continues its work with the Enterprise Europe Network until 2027

14 years after the start of the link between the two entities, the relationship means that Eurochile will continue for 5 more years connecting Chilean SMEs with Europe.

During the month of July, the collaboration between the Eurochile Business Foundation and the European Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) was made official. The participation was confirmed until 2027, which will allow continuing to support companies in their internationalization processes.

The Enterprise Europe Network is the largest support network for SMEs, and it is known by providing its clients with a personalized service that translates into the delivery of support, connection and assistance in their internationalization processes.

Eurochile has been part of the Enterprise Europe Network since 2008, so with its confirmation of the collaboration until 2027, it means an almost 20 years membership of the largest global network of SMEs worldwide.

It should be remembered that the existing relationship between Eurochile and the European network has resulted in the systematic empowerment of Chilean SMEs seeking to break into the old continent. This process translates into connection with experiences, trends, similar companies, transfer of technologies and good practices, matchmaking events, contacts for future projects, and collaboration and/or distribution agreements in Europe or vice versa.

The Director of International Networks of the Eurochile Business Foundation, Manuela Caruz, valued the work and collaboration. “For Eurochile, it is an honor to continue our partnership with Enterprise Europe Network for another 5 years, since with the joint work we have carried out in recent years we have managed to significantly strengthen trade relations between Chilean SMEs and Europe,” said Caruz.

Likewise, Caruz analyzed the importance for Eurochile of its link with the Enterprise Europe Network. “This network allows Eurochile to carry out its mission of promoting and consolidating economic, commercial and technological links between Chilean SMEs and institutions and counterparts from European countries, both public and private, being a facilitator of the process of internationalization of SMEs”.

Through the EEN, Eurochile has carried out different matchmaking events, connecting Chilean SMEs with their European counterparts. Last year, it co-organized 27 B2Bs, benefiting 378 Chilean companies. This year and because of the continuous work with the European network, the foundation can continue to support Chilean companies in their internationalization processes through their participation in bilateral meetings.

“This year, we are collaborating in various matchmaking events from different sectors that are open for Chilean companies to participate. We invite the companies to visit our website for more information”, concluded the director of International Networks.

Eurochile organizes a Trade Mission for the European project ConnectEO focused on agriculture and maritime sectors

The Trade Mission ConnectEO Chile was held between June 28 and 30, and was attended by different national speakers from SMEs, private and public entities and academia, who highlighted the know-how and how to access Chilean markets- in the agriculture and maritime sectors- as well as identifying local support to establish cooperation alliances with national partners.
