“Circular Economy and HoReCa Sector: Technologies to Transform Waste into Resources”, was the activity executed by the Eurochile Business Foundation within the framework of the “Circular Urban Tourism Barrio Plaza Ñuñoa” project, where participants had the opportunity to learn about the pilot project and the different solutions for the waste produced by the Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes (HoReCa) sector.

This initiative carried out by Eurochile through the Regional Technology Diffusion Programme (PDT) of the Metropolitan Regional Directorate of Corfo, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism and Entrepreneurs of Ñuñoa, aims to contribute to the improvement of productivity through a more efficient management of organic waste, both individually and collectively, in the tourism SMEs of the Plaza Ñuñoa neighborhood.

The activity brought together the beneficiaries of the project, who correspond to a total of 22 companies that are geographically located around Plaza Ñuñoa and its surroundings, as well as organizations and public entities interested in this program.

During the event, the pilot called “Community organic waste management model” was presented, which will allow testing and measuring the use of composting technology, as well as techniques, practices, innovative and circular processes from Europe and Chile. With this, it is hoped to define a self-financing and replicable community waste management model, which can be adopted by participating SMEs.

In this same instance, Andrea Batazzi, general manager of Multirep Services and representative for Latam Ecomondo, spoke about the “Beer&Food Attraction” fair, the only event in Europe dedicated to the Eating Out experience, which brings together the most complete national and international offer. of beers, drinks, food and trends for the HoReCa sector. This is a unique opportunity for those who want to stay up to date on new methods and styles of consumption and make the most of the opportunities offered by current changes. This event will take place in Rimini, Italy, from February 16 to 18, 2025.

On the other hand, the objective, advantages and characteristics of compost production and the various machinery used for the process were announced, so during the execution of the project it is expected to define a community management model of self-financing and replicable waste, which can be adopted by participating SMEs.

Ultimately, this initiative carried out by the Eurochile Business Foundation aims to contribute to improving productivity through more efficient management of organic waste, both individually and collectively, in the tourism SMEs of the Plaza Ñuñoa neighborhood. This will allow them to be the first circular neighborhood in the country.
