Hazelnut producers took part in Eurochile’s Fieragricola 2024 Business Mission
Chilean producers highlight their participation in the international fair specialised in the agricultural sector, Fieragricola. During the event, they had the opportunity to learn about the latest European innovations and practices that are being developed in the sector.
Fieragricola is an international trade fair held in Verona, Italy. It is renowned for its specialisation in agriculture and agri-food, covering a wide range of topics including agricultural machinery, innovative technologies, products and services for agriculture, among others. This fair is a valuable platform for industry professionals to exchange knowledge, discover the latest trends and establish strategic business contacts.
In addition to the exhibition of agricultural products and services, Fieragricola incorporates conferences, seminars and specialised events that explore the challenges and current approaches in agriculture. In response to the growing importance of innovation and sustainability, this year’s edition focused on the presentation of products and technologies related to sustainable and efficient agricultural practices.
For its 116th version, which took place from 31 January to 03 February, the Eurochile Business Foundation was present with its Fieragricola 2024 Business Mission, led by Rodrigo Silva, head of projects in the area of Sustainability and Circular Economy. This mission was made up of producers from “Avellanos Patagonia A.G.” (AVEPA), a group of hazelnut producers from the south of Chile who are making a foray into European hazelnut cultivation. During their participation, they had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest European trends and technologies used in the agricultural sector.
Participating companies include Agrícola Exportadora e Importadora la Poza, Inversiones agrícolas Jeleila, Osvaldo Rodolfo Mohr Amithauer, Maritza Flor Verdugo Riquelme, Agrícola Línea Real, Agrícola y Ganadera OM, Cristian Alonso Valdivieso Sotomayor and Claudia Francisca Valdivieso Montesino.
“It was a unique opportunity for national producers to learn about international trends in the agricultural sector. It was also an excellent opportunity to establish contacts with European companies and explore the new technologies and digitalisation that are being implemented in the sector, with the intention of replicating them in Chile,” says Rodrigo Silva.
With regard to the figures obtained from Fieragricola 2024, the event was attended by 730 exhibitors and 120 conferences and specialised events were held. In addition, the fair attracted a significant attendance of 69,000 trade professionals, who actively participated in talks, workshops and seminars held during the event.
Cristian Parra, president of AVEPA, highlights the efforts made by Eurochile to make their participation in the fair possible and the importance of having become familiar with the trends and technologies that are being used in the agricultural sector. “We have learned new techniques used in modern agriculture, especially in products that promote a more environmentally friendly agriculture in a sustainable way“.
On the other hand, producer Maritza Verdugo shares: “I found it an extraordinary fair, with a large number of stands and companies. I have gained considerable knowledge, especially in relation to the theme of environmental care, which has been present with biodegradable and sustainable products in agriculture, which is always interesting. I would like to thank Eurochile for giving me the opportunity to experience so much at this fair”.
In conclusion, the participation of entrepreneurs in the Business Missions organised by the Eurochile Business Foundation not only represents a unique opportunity to establish connections with European companies, but also to be aware of the latest trends and business practices on the other side of the continent. This experience not only enriches business knowledge, but also fosters international collaboration and the exchange of innovative ideas.
